Announcing the Creative Commons PDF Converter
The CC PDF Converter is a free (open source) application that enables you to create PDF documents from almost any application (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and more). The CC PDF Converter also allows you to easily embed a creative commons license in your PDF file.
If you find any bugs or have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it if you leave them as comments on this post.

hmm… It works great, but no XMP licensing info attached to the result PDF file. Will you add XMP support?
Hi Bob,
Thanks.
Yes…we know XMP licensing is a must and we are working on it Thank for leaving the comment. If you notify us of any more bugs or have more suggestions we will greatly appreciate it.

Hey, I lost the colours in my new PDF document! Do you know why?
Unfortunately Albert, the CC PDF Converter does not currently support color printing.

As to XMP embedding, you do have http://www.cogniview.com/creative-commons-info.php project, don’t you? :-p
Hi Jedi,
True, but the CC Info Plug in only works if you have the Adobe writer. And it just does XMP embedding. We thought that the fact that the deed itself is merged to the original document is important to the use/spread of the produced PDF files as CC Licensed content. The CC PDF Converter will also embed the XMP data in the near future (once we iron out the bugs). I apologize for the mixed metaphor.
To put it more simply
XMP - for machines
Visible deed/stamp - for people

I dowloaded the pdf converter but when I tried to convert a short word file, it doesn´t work. I´m using Widdows XP and I can send the word file to the free pdf converter but it took long time and at the end I have to cancel the printing. please help!!!
Does it capable of programmatically converting a word file to pdf with CC PDF converter not manual? If it does, how?
thanks,
Thang-
Hi Thang,
We will be releasing the full source code of the CC PDF converter in about a week. So you will be able to have full programmatic control over it. However, please note that it will be released under the GPL open source license. This means that if you integrate it into your application you will have to release the entire application under the GPL license.
I downloaded the file and am looking forward to using it in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to develop this tool.
