Predefined Fields
PDF2XL OCR supports three types of predefined fields, which can be added to the conversion output along with the data from the converted pages.
There are the physical file fields (like the file's name), the conversion fields (for example, time of conversion or the page number in the document), and the file's internal fields (which may or may not be available, depending on the file).
The predefined fields appear in the Output Preview only, as they cannot be found on the document view like regular fields.
All the fields manipulation commands, like Conversion Format or attaching fields to a table, can be used on a predefined field by selecting it in the Output Preview area and right-clicking or using the command from the selection menu.
Furthermore, all the Output Settings options can be used on the predefined fields, so they can be put in any order in the output just like regular fields.
To add one or more predefined fields to the current layout, use the Predefined Fields dialog, accessible via the Predefined Fields command from the Layout menu.
To remove a predefined field from the layout, use the same dialog, or just select and delete it as explained above.
Physical File Fields
- File Name - The full path to the filename from which the data is converted
- Creation Time - The time in which the file was created, retrieved from the file system. If it is available as an internal field, the internal field value will be used instead
- Modification Time - The time in which the file was created, retrieved from the file system. If it is available as an internal field, the internal field value will be used instead
Conversion Fields
- Page - The number of the page the data is converted from. Most usedful if not used as a Once Field, but rather as a field that is changed per page or row
- Conversion Page - The number of page in the current conversion; for example, if the user converts pages 2-4 and 7, this field will contain 1 through 4.
Most usedful if not used as a Once Field, but rather as a field that is changed per page or row - Conversion Time - The time in which the conversion took place
Internal Fields
The list of internal fields contain the fields which are defined by PDF2XL OCR and will always be available to be added to the layout (although they may not be present in the document itself, resulting in an empty field).
Some PDF files may contain additional fields, which will also be available when adding predefined fields for that specific document.
- Creation Time - The time in which the document was created; if not available as an internal field, the file creation time from the file system will be used
- Modification Time - The time in which the document last modified; if not available as an internal field, the file modification time from the file system will be used
- Creator - The document creator (usually the application that created it)
- Producer - The document producer (usually the driver that created it)
- Title - The document title (as opposed to the filename which the user can change in the file system)
- Subject - The document's subject, as set by the author
- Keywords - Keywords to which the document is related
- Author - The document's original author
- Comment - Any comment the author set
- Description - A short description of the document
- Copyright - The document's copyright
