OCR Feedback
To enable the OCR Feedback process, set the Enable Learning option in the OCR Settings page. The next time PDF2XL OCR performs an OCR process, you will be asked for feedback. If you not wish to provide feedback when converting (providing it only when navigating through the document), clear the Learn While Converting option in the same page. The results of the learning process can either be remembered just for the current session, or can be saved automatically and used in future OCR processing by setting the Keep learned knowledge.
The feedback process consists of reviewing the parts of the image that the OCR engine deems uncertain to translate into text, and providing corrections for the results. For each image part, you can either OK the result, fix it, or tell the engine that it is not a text. Additionally, you can stop the learning process at any time and have the OCR engine finish the process without additional feedback.
If you enable the OCR feedback process, the following dialog will be displayed for every part of the image that the OCR engine deems questionable:
To provide feedback, compare the results in the 'Characters' box to the image part marked in the red rectangle. To OK the OCR interpretation of the image part (displayed in the box), select 'Character(s) OK'. If the whole word (shown at the bottom 'Whole word' part) matches the entire image displayed at the top, you can select 'Whole word OK'. If the interpretation of the part is wrong, fix it by writing the correct characters in the 'Characters' box and selecting 'Use changes' (which will be displayed instead of the 'Character(s) OK' button).
If you believe you have made a mistake, you can use the 'Undo' button to be back and fix it.
If you wish to let the OCR process finish without further feedback, press the 'Enough Learning' button. You can also cancel the whole operation (either navigating to a new page, or converting), by selecting the Cancel button.
More information is available by reading about the OCR feedback dialog.
