Activation Overview

The product needs to be activated before you can begin using it. The activation wizard guides you through the activation process.

In order to complete the activation, you will need the Payment Code you received when you purchased the product. Additionally, you will need to type in the Purchase E-Mail you provided when purchasing the product.

Please note that in Windows Vista, the activation needs to be run in Administrator Mode. If PDF2XL OCR will detect that it is not running in Administrator Mode, it display the following dialog:

Selecting 'Yes' in this dialog will run PDF2XL OCR again in Administrator Mode; this will require your approval. After the Activation process has run successfully, the application will not need to be run in Administrator Mode again.

The Payment Code is found in the purchase confirmation E-Mail or fax you received from Cogniview after you performed the purchase. You can find it by searching for the words "payment code" in the email/fax.
It is also available in the post-purchase page that is available after buying the PDF2XL OCR online.
Note, however, that if you have purchased the product online, the Payment Code is only valid after the payment has been authorized by the online payment company. If you try to activate the product before the authorization, you may get the following error and will have to wait a few minutes until the payment is authorized:

The Purchase Email is the Email address you provided when purchasing PDF2XL OCR. The purchase confirmation E-Mail is sent to that address, and it is also noted in the E-Mail body itself for reference.

The Activation Key is a sequence of letters and digits that you need to enter into the Activation Wizard in order to manually activate the product. It is built out of 6 segments; each segment is comprised out of 4 digits or letters.

The Activation Process can be performed either online (if the computer is connected to the internet and your firewall does not prevent it), using Cogniview's Website (which also means your computer must be connected to the internet, but firewalls will usually allow this kind of activation), or by E-Mail or Fax if all else fails. Online or Website Activation is easier and faster, as you only need the Payment Code and Purchase E-Mail; the manual procedure (via E-Mail or fax) is slightly more complicated and consists of sending the Product Key, along with the Payment Code and the Purchase E-Mail to Cogniview; Cogniview will then return the Activation Key to you via E-Mail or Fax so you can activate the product. You'll then have to type in the Activation Key to complete the activation procedure.

Note that the product's activation is valid only for one computer, the one that it is installed on. You cannot use the activation on a different computer unless you buy another license.
