Table of Contents Operations Table Conversion Table Layout editing Using Table Headers

Using Table Headers

A 'Table header' is the non-data part of the table. It is commonly built out of the different column headers (but the table header may also contain additional information).

In some cases PDF2XL will automatically distinguish between table header and the data area. The table header area will be marked with an orange background as seen below:

If PDF2XL didn't mark the header automatically, you can mark it yourself by selecting the Use table header command in the Table menu after you've marked the table area. Selecting the same command again will remove the table header.

The table header can be resized by pressing on its lower border and dragging it.

Table headers are useful in these cases:

  1. If your table spans many pages. PDF2XL will only use it once in the export.

  2. If your table spans many pages and appears in a different location in some of the pages, PDF2XL can automatically find the table's correct position on every page (providing that the table header is marked, and you've used the find table using the header option)

  3. If your table spans many pages and has a different number of rows on some of the pages, you can use the Automatically find table end option to have the table layout expand or shrink in order to get all the table data from each of the pages
