Fields Conversion
Converting fields is slightly different then converting a table data, as fields data is retrieved once per page and not for every table row.
However, the user can select if field's data should be used only once or with the table data.
Additionally, the user can set the field's format.
The user can set a conversion format for each field in much the same way as setting conversion format for table columns, using the Field Format sub-menu of the document's Context Menu.
As explained in the conversion format topic, the format will be used both when converting the field and when performing OCR on the field.
A field can be set to appear on four different locations within the converted data:
| Setting | Description |
| Once | The field's data will be placed outside of the converted tables data. For more information, see the Fields Converted Once page.
This setting is best for fields that stay the same throughout the document, for example, a report name. |
| Every Page | The field's data will be placed in a column along with each table's data, once for every converted page. If the field has a name, it will appear above the column.
This setting is best used for summery data; for example, the page number, or total of invoice. |
| Every Line | The field's data will be placed in a column along with each table's data, on each line. If the field has a name, it will appear above the column.
This setting is best used for descriptive data; for example, the date of the report where the document contains reports from various dates. |
| With Table | The field's data will be placed in a column along with the specified table data, on each line. If the field has a name, it will appear above the column.
Note that if the page layout contains more then one table, this option will become a subment allowing the user to select to which table the field should be assigned.
This setting is best used for descriptive data that is tied to a specific table; for example, the name of the person to which the table's data is relevant. |
